Spring Term in EYFS

We began the term by showing the children a painting entitled ‘Surprise!’ by Henri Rousseau. The children were encouraged to ask questions about it and, using their responses, we have since enjoyed learning all about tigers and their habitats. Our next topic is Chinese New Year.

In literacy, we shall be reading stories and learning rhymes which we look forward to sharing with you at our Rhyme Time assembly on Friday, 22nd March.

In maths, we shall be practising counting, learning to recognise numbers and shapes, comparing objects and quantities and exploring data handling.

We also look forward to exploring some of the children’s interests during the term.

Other Information

We will be sending library books home each week on a Tuesday for you to share, enjoy and discuss together at home.

Reading books for Tawny and Snowy Owls will be changed when they have been read and the home-link book signed.. They are sent home on Wednesdays.

Sometimes we’ll ask the children to research a topic at home and share what they have found out with their peers in school.

If you have any questions or concerns please do speak to a member of the Foundation team and we’ll do our best to help.

We look forward to a busy and fun-filled term.
